The photo of 8367 gives a good view of the seat benches that can be lifted up and installed across an unused left-side rear door when the car is operated in the other direction.

Joe:

Stan Fischler made frequent mention of "jump seats" in his wonderful "TROLLEY DODGER" book; your comment also reminded me of the fold-down seats that were used on the BMT Standards and the SIRT ME-1's.........

BTW: Here's another picture I think you'll like....... Very Happy

"HOWIE WAS HERE" (39th St. Ferry loop)

In the background, note the buses in the yard (looks like they are OOS; one bus is missing glass in one windshield)..........

Corona Avenue, 1948.

The shiny new TWIN COACH posing alongside Peter Witt #8014 indeed constitutes a "generation gap", to be sure........

W. 5th St. Depot, 1950's.

Interestingly, the "Old Look" on the right is, in reality, the "New Look" as to what will be replacing the venerable old streetcars......

McDonald Avenue/W.5th St. depot, in living color......though the PCC was, of course, the main subject of the photographer, the group of Old Looks in the background, as well as the classic autos, all combine to make for a truly classic, timeless, and nostalgic scene of a bygone Brooklyn.......

Sharp contrasts between the 1955 view of an Old Look in the shadows of the Myrtle Avenue El, and, decades later, an RTS on the job, back in 2008........

I’ve looked through my collection of Fifth Avenue Coach and New York City Omnibus photos and I noticed that they also had Serif font number for their fleet numbers.

BTW, the new look buses had Serif font numbers on the exterior but the fleet numbers in the interior on the destination sign cover/door we’re not Serif font.
