All:

TRY not to FOAM too much when you take a glance at this scene from an early 1960's "TWILIGHT ZONE" episode!

NO reason whatsoever for a New York bus enthusiast of that era to be bored....... Rolling Eyes

Man, talk about "classics on parade"...WHAT VARIETY(!!) Wink

(wonder where this intersection was?)

*Be sure to note the ACF-BRILL in the lower right corner, as a bonus....bus-wise, there's a LOT to see here! Very Happy

That ep must've been from the 1963-64 season, given the 'MaBSTOA' paint jobs. I see the 'New Look' on 42nd was from one of the 50 allotted in 1960 to Surface Transit, and no doubt was one of the Amsterdam depot buses running on the M-104 (the two windows on each door were a giveaway). Looks like, on Fifth, one of the 1959 Old Looks already repainted.

A shame, of those first New Looks run by FACL and ST, their time in Manhattan was so limited (the majority shunted to the Bronx via Kingsbridge depot after 1965, and the A/C buses shifted to Ulmer Park c.1967 and Jamaica around 1970-71).

W.B:

Again, appreciate your input....thanks once more! Wink

The cabs look to be mostly 1962-era.

Is that a "SILVERSIDES" between the New Look and the MACK, heading towards the left of the photo?

Could that ACF-BRILL IC-41 n the lower right-hand corner be TRAILWAYS?

It looks like there is an insignia faintly visible on the side, but cannot make it out......

Not from New York, but here are two other "New Look" early 1960's scenes from "The Twilight Zone"........

Another "TZ" episode more than worthy of watching by die-hard "Fishbowl" enthusiasts is "CAVENDER IS COMING" (1962), featuring a young Carol Burnett.

On her homeward-bound bus (a Fishbowl, what else?) a strange gentleman sits next to her, and tries to convince her that he is her guardian angel (he is, in fact, trying to "earn his wings")

To try to convince her that he is indeed her guardian angel, he transformations the GMC....first, into a horse and buggy, then into a convertible, and then, again, back to a bus!

An "angelic" character like this could indeed make for a most INTERESTING ride today, aboard an MTA bus........ Rolling Eyes

Just had to mention this....... Wink

Fellows:

Just came across this great page; there are several stills from the Carol Burnett "Twilight Zone" I mentioned in my previous post, all featuring the Fishbowl!

Look at the photos in sequence, and you can see why the fully-uniformed driver (literally!) "jumped ship"! Shocked Shocked

(a few other "TZ" bus shots are included as well)........ Wink

*Also, note the Fishbowl briefly seen in the "TZ" episode, "STEEL" (1963)

Getting REALLY "steamed" over New Looks.....(!!) Shocked

Though the bus shown here (LACMTA) is a Flxible New Look, and not a GM, I thought this would still be of interest (photos/data).......
