To answer above - yes, Club Transport was taken over by Westchester County's Bee Line system which is run by Liberty Lines.
Most of the bus companies that ran in Westchester were merged into Liberty Lines. Westchester Street Transportation, Yonkers Transit/Railroad are two of the companies Liberty Lines took over as well as Club. There is a Liberty Lines web site that has an excellent history of the company. There is a COLOR picture of a Fageol Twin Coach in Westchester Street Transportation livery. I cannot remember the name of the Liberty Lines owner but the family of the brothers that started the company are still involved with Liberty.
Just another note, Westchester Street and Yonkers Transit were once part of the Third Avenue Railroad System (TARS)

kdr3bt:

Thanks for your post and the interesting historical notes; I am glad that my hunch was right about Club/Bee Line! Wink

Many non-traction buffs usually associate TARS with only the Manhattan routes; in truth, the TARS network in the Bronx far overshadowed the lines in Manhattan.

Beyond the Bronx, as you know, TARS cars operated in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, and New Rochelle.

The bus companies that operated north of FACCo./BoT/NYCTA territory, I always felt, have rich histories and heritages of their own, and should not be ignored.

Both their buses and their operations should not be forgotten....

Here's a 1972 photo showing a "PELHAM PARKWAY EXPRESS" (Westchester St. Transport) Flex New Look; note "COACH" on the left-hand sign of the roller curtain........

Oops, sorry 'bout that!
I was just going to add this link, but I see that you've since had a lot of knowledgeable responses.

Anyway, this part of bus history is really not in my "lane"...other than the company's that I remember riding, my knowledge is more toward intercity service and carrier's.
But I like to learn something about this anyway, and always like to see nostalgic photo's of "the good ol' days's..... Smile

The Bernacchia brothers started Liberty Lines.
The website is:
http://libertylines.com/
Sorry I did not include this in my previous post but I did that one on my iPad where I have trouble with "cut & paste".
Liberty Lines had a yard on Saw Mill River Road right near the old Putnam division railroad tracks. This could be seen from the Saw Mill River parkway as well.
Other bus yards I have seen.
Mt. Vernon: Westchester Street Transportation - Garden Ave. Old TARS trolley barn & yard. Built a bus Garage Building as well.
Westchester Surface Ways - Oak Street
Yonkers: Yonkers Railroad/Transit - foot of Dock Street
Club Transportation: Saw Mill River Road.
My memory is a little foggy on this one but I think there was a Westchester Street Trans. garage in White Plains. I think it was near the old train station.

Well....GOOD things are WELL worth WAITING for in my book..... Wink

Sure hope you enjoyed that photo of the GREYHOUND 743 about to encounter a TARS streetcar; wonder what the "hound was doing up in those parts?

Perhaps you might lend a clue?

I know I don't have the foggiest idea!

While I love discussing buses and bus companies that I knew (or at least have some knowledg of) I am always interested in learning about "the little cogs in a BIG cogwheel", so to speak! Wink

Always great, too, to have knowledgeable members share all their knowledge with us here....... Very Happy

Thanks for both the link and the info! Wink

When I worked in Manhattan (1979-2003) I well recall LIBERTY LINES buses, and always wondered about their history, roster, etc.

Again, the "indy" carriers which were once so commonplace in New York each had their own identities, and each had their own story to tell........

What was the 'Hound doing there? It is coming south on Old Nepperhan Avenue and about to enter Nepperhan Avenue (where the 5 streetcar ran). It may have been headed for the Greyhound ticket vendor on Riverdale Avenue just south of Main Street.
---
As I said, SoYoSunset is an excellent source of Yonkers History. Someplace on the vast website is a photo of 16 Riverdale Avenue, a pharmacy that sold Greyhound tickets on the side. The SoYoSunset historian profiled the store owner, Joseph Jacobson
---
Later, in the 1950's, the ticket agency was in a pharmacy on Yonkers Avenue west of the Thruway, and, after buying the ticket there, the passenger would walk to the service road of the Thruway (Central Avenue near the present casino) and await the northbound Greyhound.
---
When we rode Vermont Transit (or Greyhound) from Winsted, there would be an occasional passenger dropped at Yonkers Avenue. We had to ride to PABT and then take the subway north to Marble Hill, unless (as happened once) we coaxed the driver to do an illegal drop-off at the West 230th Street ramp of the Deegan. We did not ride bus to Winsted during the 1940's because there was a marvelous round-trip one-day excursion rate on the New Haven Railroad. I don't even recall Greyhound or Vermont Transit in Winsted in the 1940's.

YONKERS TRANSIT once operated a number of MACKS (as well as some "New Look" models.

Here is one of the "New Look" MACKS in 1964; some ex-YONKERS units were later sold to the now-defunct BLUE & WHITE company, whose garage/yard was on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen (NJ), back in the 70's.

Also note the "BROADWAY-SUBWAY" destination and the World's Fair 7-UP ad on the front of the bus...........

"CHAPPAQUA TRANSPORT" "baby" Old Looks; note that these are some of the very last Old Looks produced (1960's), featuring quad headlights.

Interesting to note, that, at the time of these photos, the basic (YELLOW COACH) body shell was near 40 years old......

Regarding that Greyhound Supercoach...I don't know the details of the old routes, but I do know that Greyhound did operate routes thru Yonkers up towards the Berkshires, and other New England points, some as late as the '70's. And there were other carrier's that did likewise, such as Resort Bus Lines, and Super Service (Bonanza), and more...

Whether that particular bus was on one of those routes is possible, or it could have simply been a charter...

When I lived in Boulder, Public Service Co. (of Colorado!, not NJ Very Happy ), ran these 30 footers on the Boulder City routes. Later, the RTD took them over...
