The New York City Omnibus Corporation - operator of 21 bus routes travelling in and around Manhattan (including Route TB which traverses parts of the Bronx and Queens via the Triborough Bridge) and, since 1954, owner of the Fifth Avenue Coach Company - formally and officially changes its name to Fifth Avenue Coach Lines, Inc. (The name change had been approved by NYCO stockholders on May 14.) All bus fleets from both entities are relettered directly below the side passenger windows to read:
FIFTH AVENUE COACH LINES INC. OPERATOR
in the same Copperplate Gothic typeface which had been in use on NYC Omnibus livery (and, prior to 1951, those of its Madison Avenue Coach Company, Inc. and Eighth Avenue Coach Corporation subsidiaries). The 10 routes of Fifth Avenue Coach (paper transfers of whose routes had shown the entity as "Fifth Avenue Coach Lines" since the NYCO acquisition) are hereby grouped under the 'FACO Division', while NYC Omnibus' 21 routes are now administered under the 'NYCO Division'. |
