MaBSTOA launches a "new" Manhattan bus route, the 101A - Third, Lexington and Lenox Avenues Line, which runs from 147th Street and Lenox Avenue to Park Row / City Hall, transitioning between Third and Lenox Avenues northbound, and between Lenox and Lexington Avenues southbound, at 116th Street.

This "new" route (which will become M102 in 1974) is a replacement for, and essentially a rerouting / renumbering of, the 2 - Fifth, Madison and Lenox Avenues line which is hereby discontinued; as well as a de facto resurrection (with noticeable differences in its route path south of 24th Street) of the old 4 - Lexington and Lenox Avenues line which was in operation from 1936 to 1960 (hence, new in quotes).
