I was thrilled today to chance upon this YouTube video from film shot in Winsted, Connecticut, in 1948, in an era when our family would travel there by train or NETCO bus. There are clear shots of the bus westbound on Main Street past St. Joseph's church, then turning south onto Bridge Street and east to the railroad station.
---
My father grew up in Winsted, and our grandparents and other relatives lived there. If the bus schedule allowed more visiting time than the Naugatuck Division train, we would ride a bus to Hartford, Waterbury, or New Haven to catch a train to New York. This clip seems to show fleet #6. Manufacturer? Flxible?
The paint job was red rather than the orangish tone of whatever film the photographer used.
The video is https://youtu.be/EICu0SCxUJ8 |

What a great clip! That bus was clearly a GM Coach...not sure of the model, but IIRC, the ones with the 'bullet' tails were powered by a Buick straight 8 engine.
And the Cunard Ship sure looks like the original Queen Mary, now in Long Beach, Ca... |

It is a GM bus. Possibly a PD-3702. |
