Here is a rare bus stop sign used by Queens Transit during 1964-1965 for their bus service to the World's Fair.

Back in 1965 we took the TA's Brooklyn World's Fair Bus from Flatbush/Nostrand to the WF. What a disaster. Long trip on a hot crowded hard-seat bus. The TA was too cheap and or stupid to purchase more comfortable air-conditioned equipment. 25 cent premium fare according to the NYT article. Would love to see a brochure/map of the TA's 1964-65 WF bus services.

Were the Queens Transit WF buses air-conditioned?

Since Queens Transit had their own version, I wonder if Triboro Coach, Green Bus Lines, and Jamaica Buses had their own as well.

Triboro operated to the Fair possibly using their brand new Flxibles as evident by the photo below.

Great memories....
To save money, I used to hoof it about a mile and a half from my home down Jewel Avenue to the Meadow Lake parking lot. From there, I boarded the free shuttle that Greyhound was contracted to operate to the Gate... Cool

Not a true stop sign but how many remember these route maps placed on poles, street lights, and sometimes mounted on el pillars... I loved these!

That, ladies and gentlemen, was the route that in 1974 became M27, and is today M50.

I remember those little metal signs at a few B8 and other bus stops in Brooklyn. They were never widely installed and looked cheap.
