Here are two News Articles from 1981.

1) Talks about Suffolk Bus Corp taking over the S40 and why MSBA was leaving.

2) from 1981 talks about service starting about service starting on the 5A, 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D and 7E. Yes that is right there was a route numbered 7C.

Here is an article about Changes to bus service from 1987.

The highlights are.

1) The creation of the S57 and S59 from Sayville and Smith Haven Mall
2) The end of service on the 4A and 4B.
3) The S63 ends service to Sayville, and becoming it's current routing Smith Haven Mall - Patchouge.
4) The S57 and S59 will operate over the routeing of the 4A/B and S63 and the S59 will also cover an area that didn't have service before.
5) The S27 is expanded to Hauppauge from it's original end point at Garden City Ave and Udall Road in West Brentwood.

Start of S57 and S59, Expansion of S27 and Change of S63

Here is a news paper photo of Suffolk Transit New Flyer D901A #111 and it's driver from the June 6, 1 1985 Issue of The Suffolk County News

At the time the photo was taken #111 was assigned to Alert Coach Lines. The bus at some point after would be assigned to Inter County Motor Coach and it's number changed to one of the #622, the exact number escapes my mind at the moment.

Also in 1985, Alert Coach Lines would lose the contract to operate the S1.

Hey Mac!

What were the exact routing of these bus routes? I know the 4A and 4B were replaced by the S59 but can you find out what exact routing? Where can I look up the information?

4A (1981-1987)
4B (1981-1987)
S76 (I) (1984)
7C (1981-19xx)
8B (1981-19xx)

4A (1981-1987)
4B (1981-1987)
S76 (I) (1984)
7C (1981-19xx)
8B (1981-19xx)

The 4A traveled from Sayville up Lakeland Ave to Ronkonkoma Railroad Station, and returned to Sayville by Holbrook Ave.

The 4B traveled from Sayville up Holbrook Ave to Ronkonkoma Railroad Station and returned to Sayville by Lakeland Ave.

7C I have no idea. All that I have found of it was a mention along with the 7A and 7B of where they traveled to. What I read didn't even distinguish what route went to Bellport and what one went to Medford.

The only thing I saw of the 8B was an mention that it could be taken to get to a hearing or something like that that was being held at the County Attorney's office which at the time was on Main Street in Riverhead.

I found everything out by using New York State historical newspaper website.

I'm still missing like 13 or so routes. I can account for one route but not it's route number, the route went from Bay Shore to Hauppauge Via NYS 111. It isn't the S45 since the S45 is listed in the same article as going from Bay Shore to Smithtown.

Is #1080 still at Sunrise Coaches? I ask because I was at the South Shore Mall yesterday and I saw a 30 ft bus flying by westbound on Sunrise Hwy. I thought it was #1060 BUT that's a 35 Ft bus.

Hey Mac!

I'm not sure of Ronkonkoma is operating Bay Shore's routes on Weekends still because yesterday at South Shore Mall, #1016 was on the 3A pulling into the mall...with a ROAR too. Just passing it along!

Maybe it was one of SBC's 30ft that you saw? Last I knew 1071 was at the Bay Shore Yard.

Yeah I'm not sure either. I'm just going by what I heard.

Though from what I've heard quite a few runs are interlined so it's possible that it is out of Ronkonkoma Yard and that that 3A run is interlined with another run so it doesn't look like the bus is out of Ronkonma Yard.

I know there is a S40 run interlined with an S66 and an S40 run thats said to be interlined with the S68. Also there is also an S66 run which ends up being interlined with the 6B. (Not sure though if thats thats the driver run or just the bus.

I know the Union lists the same Shop Stewards for Transit for Ronkonkoma and Bay Shore Yards and SCAT Shop Stewards as Coram Yard. Before I think it was Bay Shore had it's own Transit Shop Stewards, and Ronkonkoma and Coarm shared.

Oh and the S76 operated, according to an article from 1984, during the Summer only from Northern Brookhaven to Smith Point County Park. I'm not sure where but I think it may have been Rocky Point,

There was an article in 1983 where a person wrote about a route for the summer only that went from Rocky Point to Smith Point with a stop at Leisure Village.

A couple of moves to report...

#7011 is at EBT. It was on the S41 waiting for my train to pass near Brentwood Station.

Also at that same location, I saw #7025 on the S45. So I guess that bus is with Bay Shore?

A couple of moves to report...

#7011 is at EBT. It was on the S41 waiting for my train to pass near Brentwood Station.

Also at that same location, I saw #7025 on the S45. So I guess that bus is with Bay Shore?

Possible since I don't think the S45 really could be interlined with Ronkonkoma Routes on Weekdays.

I Really have no idea what is going on with bus movements for SBC since they started interlining more.

Went by the Coram Yard a few weeks ago on a Monday and there were no Transits in the area that some have been seen in Company videos. Though someone said that some Transit buses get parked on the other side of the depot which I couldn't see from NYS 112.
