I presume the report was prepared and printed in early 1960 - after the first of FACL's Fishbowls arrived. Notice the '4' number on the one at left - one of the experimental AC's.

I presume those (and the TA's first New Looks as delivered in late 1959) would have been the first buses in the city with ad racks on the front, sides and back of the exterior, which had previously been outlawed since about the 1930's or so? For sure, those buses graced the avenue only to be rerouted to other avenues in the early years of the PR Day Parade. (Even after the MaBSTOA takeover and the 1963 repainting of the exterior to match the TA and first built-for-MaBSTOA New Looks.)
If any pics of the first MaBSTOA New Looks of the 3301-3555 series parked on the Square, prior to buses being banned from the park effective Sept. 2, 1963, are in existence, all of us would appreciate a look.

Here is a view of a line up of GM buses ready for delivery led by a Fifth Avenue Coach TDH-4506, number 2205 still in the gray and white scheme as required by the ODT. Other models and operators follow in its wake.
It is followed by a TDH-4006, operator unkown.
Using a magnifying glass you can see that coming down the hill is a bus in dark colors, it is a Fifth Avenue and/or New York City Omnibus bus in its standard color!

Here's another example of PR Day Parade rerouting from June 4, 1972 . . . the (M)5 traveling along Broadway between 44th and 45th . . .
In a sense, it's ironic that this ex-FACCo line was, on this day, traveling along the same road (if only up to 42nd Street) as the old NYCO / Fifth Avenue Coach Lines' NYCO Division Route 5 - Sixth Avenue which, from the conversion of Sixth north of Herald Square to one-way northbound (and Broadway between Herald Square and Columbus Circle, as well as Seventh Avenue north of Times Square, to one-way southbound) on March 10, 1957 to its discontinuance on Nov. 10, 1963 (and absorption into the [M]6 line), ran south on Seventh and then Broadway from 59th to 34th Street.

Would someone care to identify the make of 1452 that we see in the Pinterest photo liked below? The fleet number and the paint job puzzles me.

#1452 is a GM TDH-4507, part of the fleet numbers 1300-1499, serial numbers 351-550 of 1947. This was the second order of 4507s made by Surface Transportation.

These are four weeks prior to the 1972 Puerto Rican Day Parade, but on May 7, 1972 there had to have been something going on along Fifth Avenue to have the M1 and M2A rerouted down Lexington Avenue . . .

Fellows:
Given the extreme damage inflicted on Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria several years, compounded by even more severe infrastructure damage caused by the series of recent earthquakes, one wonders on how these catastrophic events have affected the island's bus services.
Earlier, I watched an excellent 1/2 hour story by veteran Eyewitness News (ABC 7) anchor/reporter Joe Torres, which was excellent in every respect, and truly showed not only the extreme damage from the recent earthquakes and aftershocks. but also, the amazing resilience of the people.
Getting back to buses, I seem to recall a photo or two, some while back, of Fishbowls and RTS types operating in San Juan.......

Most folks do not expect to find any sort of "rapid transit" in Puerto Rico; here, then, is the "Tren Urbano", which operates in San Juan (there are also several interesting photos on this page).........

All:
As I have long believed that "in order to play the game, it's best to know all the players", IMHO, I think there is a huge void regarding the history of New York City's buses and subways, in relation to the earliest transit workers (drivers, motormen, conductors) who were of Puerto Rican descent.
I am sure there are still many, many stories that have yet to be told, regarding these men who once drove the buses and operated the subway trains, many years ago......

Note that these "AVE. B" buses are carrying ads for a Latino radio station; it set me to wondering when the first bilingual ads (or those entirely in Spanish) were first carried on/in New York City buses (also in the subways)
I'm guessing late 60's/early 70's, or somewhere around that time.
I especially remember (40-odd years ago) ads for "EL PICO" coffee; for some reason, those ads always stand out in my mind.......
