P.S. Both "QM15" and "Q16" designations from 1972-74 would have been duplications in and of themselves - of, respectively, the then-Green Bus Lines' Woodhaven/Lindenwood route (now operated by MTA) and NYCTA's Fort Totten route. Small wonder both routes (and others) had their nomenclatures changed after '74.

I wish to make a correction: Between 1972 (when TA and MaBSTOA routes all got borough initial prefices) and 1974 (when several route designations were changed), the Elmhurst crosstown #16 was designated QM16, despite it not travelling through so much as a grain of sand in Manhattan, owing to its being assigned at the time to 54th Street depot in Manhattan, being a MaBSTOA route, and presumably to distinguish from the TA's Fort Totten Q16. But both QM15 and QM16 were in and of themselves route nomenclature duplications, as each were also express routes operated then by Green Bus Lines (and now by MTA Bus), both going to Midtown from Lindenwood and Neponsit, respectively.

The QM16 designation for the Elmhurst crosstown was verified by an eBay offering of a c.1972 side rollsign (set in Standard Medium a.k.a. AG Old Face Bold, against a blue background) with every MaBSTOA Manhattan route (including the then-M23X), from M1 up to M107 (and the three TB's), plus Bx30, accounted for.
