And to think that all of today's buses are tomorrow's museum pieces! What did they say about hindsight? |

Frankie:
When the Grummans first hit the streets, now well over 30 years ago, I doubt very much if any of us ever thought of the day when they would be regarded as "museum buses"....I know I sure didn't!
Sure wish more vintage New York buses had been saved before they met the torch; of course, as is the case with preservation of historic rapid transit cars and streetcars, preserving vintage buses is NOT an inexpensive "rainy day" project for anyone.......

I only wished I shared your sentiment but I am only a fan of GM and not all GM either, just Fishbowls, Buffalos and Scenicruisers.
In that sense I guess that I am not a true bus fan. I do love those old GMs.

A true football fan will spend hours watching games regardless of which team is playing. Following one favorite team doesn't make you less of a football fan. Favoring certain GM models still makes you a true bus fan IMHO! Enjoy what you love and love what you enjoy!

Frankie:
From my long-lost boyhood days, I have had a VERY strong love/hate relationship with the Fishbowl; if I came across one on a route I had not previously ridden on, I was fascinated, enthralled, and very much in love....what a MAGNIFICENT "Bus Of The Future"!
BUT.....in the later 60's, when Fishbowls began to replace the oldest Old Looks, WHITES, MACKS, ACF-BRILLS, and TWINS in my area, I saw them as the ENEMY....a truly malicious and evil diesel driven "Darth Vader"!
BUT, then again, I still LOVE those now-iconic Fishbowls, and that is something that will NEVER change......
Like what you like and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ain't that the truth!
After missing out on last rides on various transportation icons, be it on land, sea, or air, over the years, I have learned finally to not take it for granted that they will always there; hence, "ride it while you can" is my mantra.... |
