I don't know how well that will work out in NYC, but Lebanon Transit has had them on the buses for several years. I do notice that they seem to be used pretty regularly. |

One of the fears I've seen people (at least on Facebook and other forums) have about the racks is that the bikes can be stolen if the bus stops at a red light in a "ghetto" area. Personally, I find that notion rubbish. |

If the "bike" passenger isn't observant, their bike could be "mistakenly" removed by another passenger at a bus stop. This has happened in Suffolk County (NY). Drivers are not responsible for keeping track of who places and removes bikes. I call that a theft. |
