I found this on a facebook page, no photographer or date listed.
It is Long Island City and the Circus is in town...The newspaper
headline reads: New York World's Fair 1964-65. They seem to be
heading from Manhattan towards Sunnyside.

I'm pretty sure I posted this yesterday, but couldn't find it today.
If anybody knows if this was removed or why, please let me know.

That's a nice find Free-transfer. Based on the R12/14 cars still on the Flushing line and the seemingly mild temperatures, I would guess this was the fall of 1963 promoting the fair for the following year. It may look like a 5302 but Steinway 407 was a TDH-4517.

I should have picked up on the length...TDH-4517

In Queens, a non-a/c'd fishbowl with an emergency
door was a rarity.

Free-transfer,

Being a 'quasi' expert on such matters, I can tell you that you get no demerit for your mistaken identity of Steinway # 407.

I have found that from certain camera angles in photos it is virtually impossible to discern the difference between a GM 4500 New Look and a GM 5300 New Look.

Of course, the big tell-tale is in the length of the passenger windows which is very evident when looking on directly at the side of the buses.

Now, when it comes to the width of a GM New Look - that becomes even more challenging!

About the only single giveaway between a 96 inch wide and a 102 inch wide model is seen at the floor vent between the right headlamp frame and the GM or GMC badge under the windshield - while both vent doors are the same width and on the 96 inch job they sit snugly between the headlamps and badge, there is a space of at least two inches between the door and the badge on the 102 inch models.

Width determination on GM Old Looks was a great deal easier with the additional six inches of space between the rear window and the floor vents under the windshield.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'

I don't remember seeing this posted yesterday or at all for that matter. I know I haven't removed anything in a while. Normally, I would send a P.M. if there was a issue.

It really is something to see a monkey advertising the show going down the middle of the street on skates.
