I am desperately trying to find any kind of roster of the old Brooklyn Bus Corp buses that were running in brooklyn in the 30's thru their end. Any help would be appreciated.

quickdriver27,

The best that I can advise you to do is to watch eBay (especially 4509bus) for a back issue of the June/July 1975 Motor Coach Age dealing exclusively with Brooklyn Bus Corporation pre and post city takeover.

I have attached a great 1939 photo of one of the company's outdoor storage yards looking upon a cross section of their equipment in the 30's

In the meantime I can whet your appetite with the first few listings;

1924 - 10 Yellow Coach Z-B-200's numbered 100 to 109
1928 - 5 White 50-B's numbered 101 to 104
1929 - 4 ACF 508's numbered 105 to 108 (leased from ACF)
1929 - 5 ACF 511's numbered 105 to 109
1929 - 10 Twin Coach 40's numbered 110 to 119
1929 - 2 Yellow Z's numbered 120 to 121
1930 - 12 ACF 511's numbered 122 to 133
1930 - 4 Mack BK's numbered 134 to 137
1930 - 1 Mack 6-BK-3S numbered 138
1930 - 6 Twin Coach 40's numbered 139 to 144

Hope this helps.

Bob,

Thanks - you saved me a forever stamp because I offered to mail a copy of the roster page to Quickdriver.

I would have completed the list myself but I had neither the time nor the patience to do so.

Best regards,

Mr. 'L'

To Mr. Linsky and Q65a...
To the both of you, I thank you very much for that needed info. It will certainly help me identify what little I have. Thank you both again.

quickdriver27,

I'm sure that I speak for Q65A when I say that it was a pleasure for us to help you along - that's what we're here for - the whole concept of this board is sharing and I like to think we're the best at it!

In the meantime, if I see a copy of the relevant Motor Coach Age, I'll inform you immediately.

Also in the meantime, enjoy the photo below of fleet #955 - a 1939 37 passenger Mack modeled as a CT-3G and one of seventy five likenesses numbered from 900 to 974 which were originally purchased for World's Fair service.

These buses were the last that Brooklyn ever ordered and were transferred to the then newly formed Brooklyn Bus Division of the City of New York Board of Transportation at takeover in 1940 and continued to run well into the fifties.

Photo owned by this writer.

Enjoy,

Mr. 'L'
