Fifth Avue Coach first introduced the touch exit door on the revolutionary 3100 bus in 1956. It looked similar to a push door, except it had bars on both leafs. All future Fifth Avenue Coach and its subsidiary, Surface Transit buses had this feature. MABSTOA deactivated this system on the buses upon their takeover.
