The subject in the image below has already been listed in S-60 To Smith Haven Mall's comprehensive Suffolk County rosters but I thought it would be nice to see some of the buses up close and in person.

Glimpsed in Patchogue in December of 1981 and signed for Center Moriches is fleet # 108 - a 1966 45 passenger GM Coach modeled as a TDH 4519 (serial # 1535) and a single new purchase made by Louis A. Fuocco Bus Lines, Inc. of East Patchogue, New York.

#108 seems unusually beaten up for a bus that enjoyed life in the suburbs of Long Island - in fact, I've seen Surface Transportation equipment in the city in better shape! (well, almost better shape).

Louis A. Fuoco Bus Line - served Patchogue, East Patchogue, Hagerman, Bellport, South Haven, Mastic, Mastic Beach, Port Jefferson, Medford, Coram, Ridge, Calverton and Riverhead and continued to exist during early years of Suffolk County Transit.

That was some find Mr. L.

While I have no idea about Louis A. Fuocco Bus Lines, Inc's routes in Port Jefferson and Medford, I think the Coram, Ridge, Calverton and Riverhead was what is today the finale leg of the S58.

Also if the month and year are correct, then I wonder if that means that the bus was retired the next year since Louis A. Fuocco Bus Line's 1981 New Flyer was also numbered 108, or if not, then what the story was for having two buses numbered 108. (Assumint that the GMC bus wasn't renumbered.)

S-60 To Smith Haven Mall take note;

I am uncertain as to where the focus of this presentation should be placed because it carries the flags of two companies.

Seen at its facility sometime in November of 1972 with its last destination being Babylon-Udall Road is fleet # 185 - a mid to late fifties 37 passenger GM Coach modeled as a TDH 3714 flagged for Inter-County Motor Coach but showing Babylon Transit, Inc., of Babylon, New York as operator.

#185 was purchased used according to its absence in Ohio records and my first thought was that it might have been ex Schenck Transportation with its touch of Silversides under the window belt and split sashes but that company used only custom directional signals.

Since Inter-County and Babylon Transit are tied together there is the possibility that # 185 could be Ex Babylon # 36 or 44 which were also 3714's.

I'm open to suggestions on this one!

Photo courtesy of 'ttcbeat' and is available at eBay as item # 191089738602.

The Focus would probably be on both companies, since Babylon Transit and Inter County Motor Coach were tied together. If I remember correctly Inter-County Motor Coach was owned by the son in law of the guy who owned Babylon Transit.

The the photo of TDH 3714 brings an intresting question if it was opertated by Inter County Motor Coach at the time the photo was taken then what happened to the 1966 TDH 5304 that Inter County Motor Coach had that was also numbered 185.

If memory serves (it doesn't always) Schenck's 1956 order of TDH-3714's (231-235) had round turn signals. Thus it may be one of those ex-Schenck.

S-60 To Smith Haven Mall, take note;

Seen date unknown and awaiting the arrival of the next train from Jamaica at the Long Island Rail Road station in Babylon and signed for Udall Road is fleet # 420 - a 1960 45 passenger GM Coach modeled as a TDH 4517 operating for Babylon Transit, Inc. of that south shore Long Island community.

Our focus was originally purchased as # 420 by the Steinway Transit Corporation on Flushing, New York.

Photo courtesy of '4509bus' and is available at eBay as item # 371030648923.

If the bus was at Babylon Transit at the time the photo was taken then I believe we can confirm that Babylon Transit and Inter-County Motor Coach transfered buses between the two companines because in the window behind the driver it looks like there is part of a circle with ICMC on it.

The eBay seller gave the supposed date of December 6th, 1981 as the day the photo was taken, have no idea if that is correct or not.

Utility Lines seems to have had a lot of used equipment in the 1930's from when it brought the Blue and White Bus company, Matthison Brothers, the bus routes and buses from Swezey Bus Line, and Remlien line.

It seems that at the time Utility Lines was a big operator in Suffolk.

Under the BusTalk Gallery for Double A Transportation it shows a photo of a Former New York Bus Service 1964 GM SDM5302 that was numbered 1477. According to the photo after it was at NYBS it served with Suffolk Bus. Does anyone know if Suffolk Bus means Suffolk Bus Corp?
