Newkirk Plaza David,
Thank you for your kindness in paying respects to our departed member Hawk Operator 10 - he was a long time and esteemed mentor in our community.
On a less somber note, let me take this opportunity to welcome you to BusTalkIII, and say that we look forward to your input as being another valuable asset in the record of surface transportation.

One of the downsides of having online friends is that when people drop off the boards for a while, you sometimes just assume they're busy and they'll be back. It's a shock to suddenly hear that someone has passed when you had no idea they were sick.

Very well put Railbus. Being the optomist that I am I just assumed that exact same thing. What terrible news.
Definately with a man of that kind of caliber, I think his life should be celebrated. Still very shocking. I thought this thread was a joke of some sort.
Wait for us at the last stop hawk and show us the way..... |

I'm incredibly saddened to hear this news.
Hawk Operator 10 and I traded PM's on a number of occasions.
He lived in Electchester on Jewel Ave. just a half a block or so from where I had grown up.
I never knew that he was ill. I do know that he had a wife and a little girl.
He really seemed to be a genuinely good guy.
To say that we'll miss him is an understatement.
May God rest his soul. |

This was shocking news. Hawk certainly gave us his "view" from behind the wheel, and my sympathies go out to his family.
At the old BT site, Hawk had posted "A Day in The Life" account of his work. If anybody has a copy, it would be nice to have it posted here as a tribute to our friend.
