All:

Every day, when I'm out doing errands, I see a mixture of 9600-series Neoplan artics and 5200-series NABIs operating on the 159 and the 159R.

Strangely, for the past couple of days, I have not seen any Neoplans (this is during off-peak); I've only seen NABIs.

Given the fact that the NABIs have far less seating than the artics, and that headways are not all that frequent, I'm wondering now if NJT is now using the artics only during rush hours, and NABIs the rest of the time.

IMHO, this would seem to be creating overcrowding, with NABI seating even less than the old Flex Metros they replaced several years back.

Appreciate any info....thank you....

Update:

About 5:45pm, I decided to see if I could spot any Neo artics on either the 159 or the 159R.

I did see several; the first one, #9502 (one of the few 9500s stabled at Fairview) was deadheading back to the Fairview Garage.

During the next half-hour or so, I saw several more (9600s); one was another OOS heading back to the garage, one was on an outbound 159R, and another was heading back to the PABT on the 159.

There were also a number of 5200-series NABIs; a few were on the 159R.

This is certainly nothing new, but, as these buses have less seating capacity than the old Metros they replaced, and far less seating and standing room than the artics, I often wonder on the logic of this, during the heavy rush periods.

Anyway, tomorrow I will see if I spot any artics during the off-peak hours.....

About 11:30am today, I saw one Neoplan artic (#9501), heading inbound to the PABT on the #159.

A few minutes later, I saw an outbound #159, heading to Fort Lee, but this was a 5200-series NABI......
