They were located on Dartmouth and Rockdale Ave and on Swift Street and Bolton Street and then on RTE6 near Buttonwood Park all in New Bedford. The photo on this post 1940 Areocoach #11 is parked in Park Square Boston across from Stadler Hotel. The bus terminal there, was the Park Square Terminal across from the Trailway Bus Terminal. This is the first bus I cleaned, service and drove in the 40's. 6 cycl red diamond engine, 5 speeds.
I am interested to know who your father was Matt. I am sure we both worked together back in the 70's. My name is Bob Medeiros. Please contact me back. Thank you |
bobbymedeiros,
As the official welcoming committee here at BusTalk, let me do just that by saying welcome aboard to you and that we certainly look forward to your valued input as a member.
BTW; you have displaced me as senior most citizen here by five years - congratulations and continued well being to you.
Many regards,

Yep, I agree it's a 4104, don't know who it belonged to though.

Oh, I knew it was an '04, but wondered if it was an Almeida....the colors look similar in the obscured view....

I'm not 100% sure, but I think by the mid-70s Almeida had sold off their 04s. At least I don't remember any on the lot. Mostly 4106s (numbered from 70 to about 82), 4107/08s (#80s-94), 4903/05s (#95-106), and a few yellow/green MCIs (#107, 108) that sat by themselves in the north-east (I think?) corner of the rear lot. The last P8M-4905As they bought were that horrible yellow and green scheme and numbered around 110-114. Boy, they were ugly. #114 is the highest numbered coach I have a photo of.

Ouch...what an eyesore...what were they thinking when they painted up that otherwise handsome coach like that?

Makes me glad that the 05 I used to drive was painted brown and tan and had a lot fewer dents!
