Should NICE expand their operations to 500 buses? Based on service levels ridership?

1 - Ia there an increased need in service that calls for a roster of 500 buses?

2 - Who is going to pay for the acquision of these buses? The taxpayers of Nassau County pay some of the highest real estate taxes in the United States. Should they be burdened with more taxes to fulfill one of your fantases?

I can't see it happening due to funding. And while one might think having extra buses is good, sometimes it is more of a problem when you don't have all the resources to maintain them.

How many does NICE have in their fleet now?
I agree with GBL Rebel...any more than a couple of spares would be a waste of money. If there is an increase in ridership you add equipment as needed.

They have around 340 + buses on property, but only 315 or so in service.

NICE should probably acquire articulated buses for the busiest routes before they think about increasing the overall fleet size, IMO.

Back when NICE bus arrived on the scene in 2012, they did talked about ordering New Flyer artics (CNGs possibly). Don't know if they still plan to though.

Well, you never know what NCDOT may do. They (or the MTA) may modify the station/TC to fit New Flyer CNG artics.
