I had to make a quick trip to NYC today. Didn't have much time to spare, but I managed to get a few pics.
R-68 leaving Concourse yard for the PM rush hour.
NYCTA seems to have changed their paint scheme a bit on this Orion.

Nice collection of photos for not having much spare time, Waynejay! Thanks for sharing. Being the armchair traveler that I am, I always enjoy photos around New York. |

thanks a bunch. Yesterday was such a rushed day for me and I think I was lucky enough to get a few photos while running around. The WMATA bus showed up (and I grabbed the camera) as I was heading to I-95 for the trip to NYC. I got 2085 on the NJ Turnpike. The others I got as I was heading back to the GWB (with a small detour to my favorite pizzeria at 206-Bainbridge) for my return trip around 5:00 PM yesterday. |

Waynejay,
Forgive my stupidity but what was 2085 doing on the Jersey Turnpike?
I know I've been out of touch for years but I was always under the impression that NYCMTA equipment was prohibited from operating in another state unless everything is now changed.
Please fill me in.
BTW; great pictures - thanks for sharing with us.

Mr Linsky,
No problem. While most NYCTA Staten Island express routes operate through Brooklyn between S.I. and Manhattan, some of those going to Midtown operate over the Goethals Bridge into New Jersey and then NJ Turnpike to the Lincoln Tunnel. Also, lots of deadheading S.I. express bus operators seem to prefer going through New Jersey, which is what 2085 was doing when I saw it.
While on the topic, a week or so ago NYCTA began it's first interstate route. The expresses don't count since they don't make any stops in New Jersey. They started the S-89 limited-stop service between Eltingville Transit Center and the Bayonne, HBLR Station. |
