Mr. "L" (and fellow old-school bus enthusiasts!):

Just came across these three vintage views that I had not previously seen.

For obvious reasons, I think you'll enjoy these! Wink

"GO GREEN!" Smile

BTW: THANK YOU for taking the time to share so many old photos and related historical facts here with us! Very Happy

NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629,

Thanks so much for these fabulous shots which I intend to showcase shortly.

They must only have been posted recently because I check the Subway site every so often and rarely see anything newly added.

Thanks again for thinking of me.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'

And you found two different 909s:

1946 TD4506

1955 TDH5106, ex-Jamaica Buses

Michael,

Generations apart are these two 909's!

The explanation (you have to follow the bouncing ball on this one!);

When Green Line sent twenty three of their thirty five 4506's including # 909 to Jamaica in the very early sixties, they were repainted and renumbered to the 200's by Jamaica.

Conversely, when Jamaica sent thirteen of their 5106's numbered in the 600's to Green Line in 1978, they were repainted and renumbered as 900's by Green Line.

So there actually was a span of almost twenty years between the two 909's at Green Line.

Best regards to you and the family,

Mr. 'L'

Speaking of Green Bus Line ... With Mr. L in mind, I find this very interesting pass and is currently available.

Did GBL use buses for school service or where these issued to students for discounted fares on regular revenue service?

frankie,

Sorry that I could not get back to you on your question before now.

The ten ride weekly tickets, which would cost the students half of the going fare, were sold at the schools and could be used on either appointed school buses or within the zone on regular passenger routes.

BTW; thank you so much for thinking of me for this thread.

Best regards,

Mr. 'L'
