Note; 153, 161, 152, 160 and 158 sold to Jamaica Buses in 1957 as their 41 to 45 respectively.
Also note; the July/September 2012 Motor Coach Age indicates that all of these buses were 41G's built in 1943.
It also seems to appear, by the numbers, that there were at least fifteen for Schenck originally.

You are correct - conversely though, Schenck favored 'Zero Start' with new buses in a new series (example; 100 instead of 101) which might mean that the 41G's started with 150 and went to 164.
This was a peculiar trait among operators; some, such as Green Line (NY), always started with a one (except for their very first order of Mack's in 1933 which started at 400 instead of 401).
On the other hand, Surface Transportation (NY) started all new series with a zero (ie; 1100).
I find little rational explanation for the difference.

S-60 To Smith Haven Mall, take note
Seen brand new sometime in late 1955 at its company's facility in Hempstead, New York is fleet #315 - a 38 passenger GM Coach Model TDH 3714 and one of four likenesses numbered from 314 to 317 under the flag of Checker Bus Corporation (as lessee) but owned by The Lordship Railway Company of Danbury, Connecticut.
The extremely popular heavy duty TDH 3714, an updated version of the TDH 3612, featured every attribute of its larger capacity cousins including Air Suspension and was ideal as a feeder to main trunks for major operators or as the backbone for smaller properties, and 825 were built between 1953 and 1960.
#315 is signed for its run from Hempstead to Levittown with an accent on Mays Department Store - a one time nationwide emporium eventually absorbed by the Macy's group.

Good shot of the Checker Bus Corp. 3714. Schenck Transportation Company, the dominant operator where I lived in Nassau County, also had many of these in its fleet. As ridership grew on its subway feeder routes 40 foot GMs supplanted these, which were then most common on the north-south routes (Lynbrook-Great Neck, and Mineola-Manorhaven). |

S-60 To Smith Haven Mall, take two notes;
Add an early forties Mack Model ED operating as #27 for Mack Brothers Transportation Company (I have a beautiful photo of the bus in my Word file and can't convert it to JPG easily).
Re; Bee Line (L.I.);
Top photo shows Bee Line # 600 - a TDH 5106 that you already have rostered.
Bottom photo shows Peninsula Bus Company #655 - also a TDH 5106.
Note that #655 is ex Bee Line but not 655 (which didn't exist) and I have no further information as to what number it was.
Don't let the touch of silversides under the belt line on #600 fool you because when Peninsula repainted the bus (following Bee Line's scheme) they removed it.
Far Rockaway based Peninsula bought all of their buses used and usually from other local companies.

S-60 To Smith Haven Mall, take note;
Espied sometime in the early fifties at Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway, Queens and readying for its trip back to Lynbrook via West Broadway in the Five Towns is fleet # 117 - a 1948 27 passenger Ford Model Metropolitan operating for the Nassau Bus Line, Inc. of Hewlett , New York.
Ford's versatile and popular all new Metropolitan design, created in 1945 and built in-house after the company's divorce from an outside body contractor, derived power from a 254 cubic inch, six cylinder gasoline engine mounted transversely at the rear and coupled to a three speed mechanical transmission (it is somewhat surprising that Ford did not continue their famous V-8 that was previously used on their Transit Bus design but they did emphasize economies with the Metropolitan which may account for the decision).
The company manufactured well over a thousand of these buses between 1945 and 1950 when they sold the business to Marmon-Herrington of Indianapolis, Indiana who continued production until 1955.

Roy,
Unfortunately, all sales literature referred to the model only as a Metropolitan.
However, you are correct that the bus is a Model 8MB - before I wrote the article I checked with DSR (Detroit) who used Fords extensively but could find nothing.
Upon your cue, I keyed in to Google and sure enough I found the right DSR page which indicates the following;
"In August 1948, ten (27-passenger) pilot Fords (#6001-6010 — Model 8MB) were purchased by the DSR for trial along-side ten redesigned Transit Buses (Checkers) and were all retired in 1954".
BTW; It's not beyond reason to think that Nassau's 8MB may have come from Detroit because they rarely bought a new bus and so many of Detroit's surpluses wound up in the New York area.
So S-60 To Smith Haven Mall can add the model number.

S-60 To Smith Haven Mall, take note;
Seen circa 1950 somewhere in western Nassau County, New York and signed as an Express to Jamaica Subway and Bus Terminal is fleet # 125 - a 1945 29 passenger Ford 'Transit Bus' Model 29B and one of an unknown number operating for Schenck Transportation Company, Inc., of Floral Park, New York.
The Model 29B (affectionately known as a Crackerbox) gained power from a 358 cubic inch Ford flathead V-8 gasoline engine mounted transversely at the rear and coupled to a three speed mechanical transmission.
Extremely reliable and economical to operate, these little Fords were ideal for low volume routes and as feeders to main trunks with 11,000 being built between 1940 and 1947 of which the largest number went to Detroit's Department of Street Railways (DSR).
Of note on #125 is the appendage on the roof over the drivers compartment housing a mechanical intake fan for the New York required full time ventilation system.
