Before it disappears from the web, take a look at this interesting photo used in the promotion of the 20th New York Transit Museum Annual Bus Festival on September 29th.

I'm guessing that this photo is from the early 1930's, showing the manufacture of buses for the Brooklyn Bus Corp. Macks or Twins?? |

Great guess N4 Jamaica! 1931 to be exact. The buses on the assembly are five of the 74 Twin Coach Model 30 buses (300-373) ordered by the Brooklyn Bus Corp.
BBC bought four model 20's the previous year numbered 149-152. Even though similar in appearance including 6-windows between the doors, the model 30 had duel wheels at the rear whereas the model 20 had a single wheel.

N4 Jamaica & frankie,
Great picture and nice reports.
The photo was taken at Twin's Kent Ohio plant circa 1931 and the coaches on the assembly line may well have been destined for Brooklyn as they were a very important client.
In fact, they were the largest Twin Model 40 customer with 117 on the property - the twin engined Model 40 being the first and most successful street car design which was often imitated but never really duplicated.
#204 in the Socony-Vacuum ad below was one of 100 Model 40's delivered to Brooklyn in 1931 and numbered 200 to 299.

Regards,
Mr. 'L'
