I don't as a rule feature trucks but I couldn't resist the attachment and, after all, it is a GMC Diesel as noted by the well placed notice on the hood.

Seen in a publicity shot when new is a 1941 GMC Model ADCR-900 tractor operating for the F & M Schaefer Brewing Company then of Kent Avenue in Brooklyn, New York.

The 1941 GMC heavy duty truck line was the first to use a 165 hp. Detroit Diesel model 6-71 - basically the same power plant as used in GMC coaches of the era but in a slightly modified configuration.

Of note on the trailer, which was used to deliver sizable orders to stadiums and the like, is the tied down canvas cover for easier loading and the slightly pitched floor for beer keg roll offs.

Because of our involvement in World War II, the GMC 900 series remained virtually unchanged until 1947.

You can certainly get a good idea of the size of New York State pre convention license plates from this photo!

Schaefer was one of the top selling beers in the New York Metropolitan area and, with its beginnings as a brewery shop in Manhattan in 1842, was certainly one of the oldest in the business.

In 1981 the company was sold to the Stroh Brewing Company which in turn was sold Pabst Brewing Company where the Schaefer formula is still bottled under the Pabst label.

Any one who knew Schaefer Beer knew that it was "the one beer to have when you were having more than one"!

Photo courtesy of 'bk.sales' and is up for bid on eBay as item # 270876260159.
