I found this photo on a railfan site covering the Hoboken Shore R.R.:
http://hbs.railfan.net/hbs20.jpg
Classic picture of a classic bus.
Many of the folks who frequent such a website probably aren't as interested in vehicles without flanged steel wheels, but a lot of us love old machinery, regardless of mode.
Enjoy! |

Bob,
Great find - thanks for sharing (that bus must have been one of my racing partners on the straightaway at what is now JFK Airport).
Good memories,
I'm made a copy below to enjoy.
Regards,
Mr. 'L'

A pair of '04s and a GE 44 tonner. Must be a picture of Heaven.
The engine is one of two purchased by Hoboken Shore RR in 1949, numbers 700 and 701. |

Thanks for providing that shot....I went and looked at the website it came from and found it fascinating. That was an interesting 'fantrip' in those gon's. I drive by that area almost every day shuttling buses to and from Academy's lot in Hoboken, and never realized the history of that area, a lot of which has not changed all that much. I believe some of those factories have now been converted to residential condo's.... |
