I probably rode a White or two on Inauguration Day, 1957. Google tells me the noon temperature was 44. My starting point was Avondale, where Michigan Avenue, D.C., enters Maryland, the terminal of two Rhode Island Avenue Capital Transit bus services, at that time, I believe signed either F4 Archives or E2 Lafayette Square. Route numbers have changed since then.
----
Whether the fare was 15 cents I don't recall, but I got a paper transfer to the streetcar on New Jersey Avenue, route 90, which would pass the Supreme Court. I arrived at the East Portico of the Capitol as Marian Anderson was singing the National Anthem.
----
Eisenhower's Second Inaugural Address lasted ten or eleven minutes, it seems. I later walked over to the slope of Constitution Avenue as it led west to Pennsylvania Avenue and awaited the parade. Eisenhower came by, standing, waving, in an open-top car.
----
I think the GM Articoolers had not yet been purchased, so when I returned via a transfer at Rhode Island Avenue, I most likely boarded a White. I don't recall whether it was 102-inch, but the largest Whites were over on Connecticut Avenue.
