My grandfather worked for the North Shore Bus Company in Queens in the late 1920s and 30s. He drove route Q5A, I believe. I never had the chance to meet him and wondered if there is any information available on employees of the company.

Welcome to BusTalk - glad to have you aboard.

I really can't do too much to help you except to say that when I worked summer relief at Green Line (NY) in 59, 60 and 61, I heard a number of stories about the many North Shore drivers that applied for openings at Green before and during World War II.

I never met any of them who were probably long gone in my time but I know that their reason for 'jumping ship' at North Shore had to do with continuous union problems and the fact that Green's deal with their union (1179) was as good as it gets (and it was!).
