Gentlemen,

A complete listing of 'Buses Leased or Borrowed from Affiliated Companies 1985-1994' may be found on page 33 of the October/December 2000 issue of Motor Coach Age entitled 'New York City's Green Bus Lines' by Alan Bromberger (MHSRIP).

The list gives you the specially assigned (add a 1) fleet numbers and the dates that they were transferred - you might note that some of the borrowed buses made more than one appearance.

It's ironic that Green Line, who picked up Jamaica and Triboro literally out of the gutter in the 40's, found themselves with the tables reversed in later years and gladly accepting hand-outs especially from those two companies!

I saw a picture on flickr today by ttmg that has MCI 701 next to a fishbowl with no AC but in the background I can also see either Orion 5501 or 5502 because of the black window borders so it could've been in the late 1990's but what's with the Non AC Fishbowl? It does seem to only have 1 Green Stripe on the side. There is another picture of RTS-03 1001 and 1004 with broken windows and next to it is another RTS but with a black stripe.

The Fishbowl appears to be AC Transit #817. Fan trip? Those might be NJ plates on it, too.

Well the Classic has the post 2001 plates so its not from the 90's. I agree it must be that AC Transit bus because it is certainly not a Green Line bus. The fishbowl even looks like it has roof exhaust and I doubt they ever had a non A/C bus with roof exhaust. Nice find on both of those pics. Those 03 RTS buses were a trip. Loud and pretty fast but not as fast as the Canadian fishbowls. Both had 8 cyl.

That non-air fishbowl seems to have an AC Transit (Oakland, Ca.) logo over the rear bumper but no AC Transit ever had that Green band.

However, Golden Gate Transit of San Francisco did (in that same shade) and it might be that AC bought it and eventually sold it through Hausman Bus Sales and it wound up at Green Line.

I guess that's as good of an explanation as any!

It is as good an explanation as any but GBL didn't have any of them on their property after the year 2000. That's not a GBL bus.

Did any of the borrowed RTS-03 get the final 2 stripe GBL Paint Colors? because then what would the RTS next to 361 and 604-1 on those photos in the gallery be. If you look closely at the picture the end number looks like a 1.

I don't see any number on the RTS. And don't forget, that picture had to be taken after the RTS-04 & 06's were delivered. 222-292, 10001(221), 601-622 were all there by 1988. The fishbowls did make the early 90's.

There is another picture of 1014 floating around the internet and one of 1013 as well. Both are from 1997. The 1013 shows a Single Green Stripe on the doors and shows the final GBL Paint scheme on the rest of the bus. 1014 still had 2 front stripes. Both images are on ebay.
