Personally, I would say no!

The reason I ask is because of the new offering for 2013 from Classic Metal Works. They will be decorating their ever popular TDH-3610 model for both FACCo and Pacific Electric Railway. There will be two destinations available as listed in the ad. Can Mr L or anyone confirm their accuracy?

The livery looks right, but I would love to see this on a model that was actually part of the FACCo fleet. Unfortunately, very few if any models are available.

Frankie

FACCo did not receive any new 3610's - the closest operators to NYC were Westchester Street Transportation and the Bee Line in Rockville. And Pacific Electric did not receive any either.

Source is the 3610 delivery list on the invaluable Ohio Museum of Transportation production lists page.

frankie,

I can verify the fact the FACCO never ran a 3610!

The closest they ever came to anything that small were eighteen 1935 31 passenger Yellow Coach model 728's borrowed from New York City Omnibus between 1942 and 1946 for service on their # 16 Crosstown line in Queens.

There's a great photo of one (# 1055) on page 89 of Ogden's 'New York Fifth Avenue Coach Company'.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'

Fifth Avenue Coach never had 3610's. It's subsidiary, Chicago Motor Coach did have 12 1947 Yellow Coach 3607's (nos. 61-72). Four were in cream & green Omnibus colors for northwest light lines, and seven were in gray, white and red for Parking Lot Shuttle service.

The FACO 728s were not borrowed, but assigned to the three light-duty crosstown routes after 1935 - the #6 (72nd Crosstown), #16 (Elmhurst Crosstown), and #20 (57th Crosstown), per Motor Coach Age's FACO article (1971). No doubt the FACO 728s were ordered along with the ones assigned to NYCO. Also remember that the #16 did not operate for much of WW II to conserve fuel and rubber, so that it's unlikely these buses were assigned to #16 between 1942 and 1945.

FACO 740s also ran on those three routes. Many were rebuilt in the mid-50s with chrome bumpers, the post-1941 indented windshield, and sealed beam headlamps. Repainted in the postwar FACO green and tan, they were very attractive buses despite their age. Triboro Coach had a similarly rebuilt fleet of 740s.
