While thumbing through some old copies of MCA, I came across these photos of two of ten Stockton's TDH-3501 old looks acquired new in 1967 and numbered 1810 through 1819.

What's unusual are the odd rear doors with 2 windows on one leaf and a single one on the other. As first I thought this was an after market door replacement and exclusive to 1816 as shown on the front cover. But I also noticed 1810 in another photo showing the same arrangement.

I find it pretty odd if all 10 buses had the same arrangement and ordered directly from the factory. Why and what is the purpose? One wonder's what the higher ups were thinking when these buses were ordered.

Frankie

frankie,

Do you think that it might be the fact that today's New York Times reports that Stockton, California is on the brink of bankruptcy - or is that just a coincidence? (only kidding but not about the story in the paper).

In my wildest dreams I can't figure this one out and I doubt that it was because GM ran out of glass!

But, you have to believe that if all ten came from the factory the same way, there must have been a good reason!

It's one for the books!

Regards,

Mr. 'L'
