Thursday, July 26, 2007, 8:30 a.m., there were two northbounds at the starting point of N73/N74 at Merrick Road and Wantagh Avenue. New LI Bus 1100 followed a regular bus, which disappeared out of my sight. 1100 carried ads for the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and Odyne Corp. It proclaimed "Hybrid Electric Drive." License plate M-20097. Also carried this web address, on which I can find no press release about this bus:
http://www.lipower.org/cei
The cei stands for clean energy initiative. I did not get a good look at the bus, as I was behind it, but it seemed shorter than most. It had large side windows. I followed it north on Wantagh Avenue but gave up when it went 12 mph over the 30 mph speed limit. |

Got a brief glimpse of this bus (or what I assume is the same you are talking about). Looked to be a 30 footer, was parked northbound on Newbridge Rd just south of the Hicksville RR behind an O5 400-series.
Didn't get a chance to investogate or take a phone pic. |
