Concerning your Vintage Suffolk bus fleet list, the Chace RT50 was actually a Chance RT50. According to a May 20, 1982, Suffolk County News article, Suffolk County ordered a whole bunch of these buses specifically for the feeder bus routes in 1982.


The Spelling mistake came from my source, that could be when I goggled the spelling I had it only came back with that one photo.

My source also didn't say who had owned them, I just assumed that the companies had brought them. Though that would explain why some of them were numbered in order with some of the 1982 Gillig's, and why the 7A had one all the way until 1997.

Also I wonder if some of them where retired in 1993 with the 1981 New Flyers and where the ones that where converted into Suffolk's first Para Transit buses?

I believe that the article was off by one Chance, if I understand what my source Suffolk brought 38 Chances in 1982, and possible a few in 1988. I'm basing that because the serial numbers that were listed for the Chances changed from stating with 82 to starting with the letter J and because a few that Suffolk Bus had in the serial numbers with J's were renumbered 88xx.

This picture was taken in Central Islip on Carlton Ave just south of the RR tracks, part of what is currently the 3C. I'm not sure of the owner of the bus, I would think Suffolk Bus Corp but I think it was said somewhere that Utility Lines had a route in the area.

Ok so I have some 1969 GM T6H5305A's that were numbered #434-436 that were former Johnson County Suburban Lines #209,208,207 on the vintage list above. Also I have a unknown 19xx GM bus model 53xx withe the same bus number as the one listed above, and also one numbered 436 that was said to be at Babylon Transit. Anyone else besides me think that the buses that were said to be at Babylon Transit were the same that were said to be at Inter County?
