Michael,

With what all of you have done with the 'Orange Bus' rosters, there's really little else to add - great jobs!

I have been trying to dig up the ex's (where some of the stock eventually wound up) but am hampered by my 'Nostalgia' feature.

However, and pulling a rabbit out of a hat!, I did find an order for 20 Mack Model CW3G's (ser# 1122 to 1141 - fleet #'s unknown) delvered to Steinway Omnibus Corporation in September of 1939.

Again, great jobs!

Excellent detective work! I added the Macks to the list above.

ripta42 & Q65A;

I can give you info on only 3 GM New Look Fishbowls buses on this list;
This was all from old photos from the old BusTalk before it was shut down:

QSC T6H-5306A 1266 was Ex-NYBS 1266
The photo was taken on 3/24/1990 by Andrew Grahl, it still had the NYBS paint scheme with QSC decals when put in service. Unfortunately I don't know how many of these buses were purchased by QSC.

QSC T6H-5308A 1366 was Ex-NYBS 1366
Just like the last bus, but this one had actually been repainted. Photographer unknown.

QSC T6H-5308A 1377 was Ex-NYBS 1377
This photo for this bus was taken on 3/12/1994 by Andrew Grahl, the NYBS paint scheme remained on this bus with QSC decals applied on it.

I guess since QSC 1366 was ex-NYBS 1366 you could probably assume that buses 1362-1365 were also ex-NYBS, but I can't confirm that. Maybe someone else will fill in the blanks.

I think it's time to bring Steinway Omnibus # 2000 out for an airing.

This is the 1939 Mack model CW3G mentioned above and one of twenty delivered to the company in that year.

By very educated guess, I would say that the fleet numbers ran from 2000 to 2019.

Funny how some operators opted to start their numbering at zero and others such as New York's Green Line usually started with 01 which certainly seemed to be less confusing.

The history of Queens Transit/Steinway Transit/Queens Surface in the new issue of Motor Coach Age should answer a lot of questions in this thread.

R.B.,

I'd love to see the issue except that I haven't received it and my emails to the Motor Bus Society are ignored.

That's what I like about them!

I think I'll ignore their next bill along with the extra contribution that I usually make!

There's no one even to call to talk to!

Did Triboro give some of their 1979 GMDD Fishbowls to QSC? I saw a few pictures on an archive of Transitworld.net of Fishbowls the site labels as ex-Triboro Coach and those pictures were of #'s 618 and 620. They were repainted except for the cream colored area around the front window and the font of the number looked like the Triboro large number font. There are other photos such as some of NYBS Unpainted Fishbowls and GMC RTS's in service.

Here is a link to all the GMC Fishbowls/RTS pictures on the site.
