Though a Philadelphia PCC dominates this view, rubber-tired transit history (courtesy of GM and TWIN) can also be seen in the background......

NYO (Jerry)
Allow me to intrude with a couple of TTC scenes from when I was a chaild.
The first is at the corner of King Street and Church Streets. The streetcars are on King but a TTC bus is visible on Church. We are looking east along King Street.

A note; my paternal grandparents both lived on Church Street, a couple of blocks north of King, in the 1890's.

NYO- the next picture is at the west end of King Street at "Roncy".
This intersection is where Queen Street, the main east-west street in Toronto intersects with King Street and, running north and south, Roncesvales Avenue.
This is the Sunnyside bus terminal. Just out of the picture behind us is the Roncesvales Car Barn and the Edgewater Hotel. Many a glass of beer was sunk by off shift TTC operators at the Edgewater.

Grey Coach Lines was the intercity bus subsidiary of the TTC.
We are looking east along Queen.

(Jerry) NYO

Here is a rare shot.
The last "Peter Witt" on the TTC, preserved for historical purposes, is seen next to a Trolley Bus.

Thanks, my friend. I hope my TTC views add to this thread not detract from it.
They make me sad when I see views of the "Toronto I grew up in" which is so different form the Toronto of today.

Rob Archer,
Mississauga ON.

Hey, Rob:

Appreciate you sharing these wonderful old views!

Yep, it's the same here in "Joisey".....so much has changed since I was a kid back in the 60's, especially transport wise....it's like I grew up on another planet!

ALWAYS greatly enjoy seeing vintage Canadian shots!

I took a few pics of CCF-BRILL buses in Montreal back in '73......the HIGHLIGHT of the city, IMHO!<G>

A rare "TEXAS ELECTRIC RAILWAY" photo from about 1930; note here that the buses are clearly the subject of the photo, with the electric interurban cars in the background....
