Taken sometime in 1950 and somewhere in the environs of suburban Philadelphia, Pa. we see an image of fleet # 28 - a 1946 GM Model TD 3609 and one of ten numbered from 26 to 35 delivered to the Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company's Red Arrow Lines division of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.
Among the first GM transit coaches to appear after the war, the 3609's in both gasoline and Diesel models were very popular with medium volume operators and 1525 hit the streets between 1945 and 1946 including 160 gas jobs for the U. S. Navy - the largest order for the model.
Red Arrow serviced much of the City of Brotherly Love's suburbs from its hub at the 69th. Street Terminal in Upper Darby.
# 28 is signed for 'Aronimink' noted for its professional class golf courses and the one time Aronimink Transportation Company which was the predecessor to Philadelphia Suburban Transportation.
