The Connecticut DOT has announced a "modest" fare increase for riders of CT Transit, as well as Metro North New Haven line and Shore Line East rail passengers, effective January 1, 2012. For bus passengers, the base fare will increase $.05, from $1.25 to $1.30. A new reduced fare monthly pass for senior and disabled riders will be offered as well. During state budget negotiations, system wide service cuts were also proposed, but none of these will take place.
