About 1990 VTA rented some of this modal from Golden Gate. Most were from 1972 but some were from the 60's with inline 6-71 engines. We used them for a 40 mile express run and kept blowing tires until we stop using recaps on the rear. They came with 5" wide front brakes. We only had 6" wide brakes on the front of our fleet so we changed the drums and shoes to 6" on the few we did front relines on. If yours has 6" wide front brakes it may have been one that we rented. They were SWEET coach's. Very Happy

VTA stands for Valley Transportation Agency. That is the current name for the agency that runs the county transit system for Santa Clara county CA. We also have some small city systems and Stanford has the Marguerite

Well, good or bad it's mine now. I have the title in hand, and will go back to get it and collect all the parts (boxes of parts according to the previous owner) next weekend. I just have to figure out how I'm gonna move that spare motor and tranny, but not concerned...we'll figure it out I'm sure. Very Happy

Should be fun. I'll post pics as I can, my tentative goal is to have water and sewer operational by spring. Of course that comes with electrical as well, but I'm going to try to focus on function, so we can use and enjoy it while we take care of form.

Looking at the delivery list at the Ohio Museum of Transportation website, your bus appears to have originally been Golden Gate Transit 825. It was from a group of twenty buses delivered in July, 1972. This might have been the first group of buses acquired new by Golden Gate when it began to take over the former Greyhound commute routes.
