This may be more an "Exchange Place" item, but...
I have several GREYHOUND TT folders with 1938 - 39 dates. Not for sale...
Where to look for a possible PACIFIC GREYHOUND folder of same era? A shortcoming in the folders I already
have, is that they do not provide schedule details of much of PACIFIC routes entirely within the West...
I'm not much up on the "where to go" in this particular collector market (other than check E-Bay, of course)...

I have acquired many old timetables for buslines while attending various railroad oriented fairs and flea markets aroung the country. Some of the biggest timetable dealers--those that turned their hobby into a business, usually carry bus and airline timetables for sale as well as the more widely collected railroad timetables. You can perhaps search the internet for such events, or look at the classified ads in the back of Trains magazine and the like, that sometimes advertises these fairs. I also suggest looking at some of the airlines hobby mags, for airline collectible meets for the same result....
Good hunting! |

Thanks! All I have to do is get out to the periodic "Train Show" events passing thru around here. <G>...
I'm on to some leads, and would welcome more, for a GREYHOUND Folder, issued by PACIFIC, for same era
as the SYSTEM and ATLANTIC Folders in my collection.
Recall, an active thread in "Photographs" here, with inquiry about locale of site displaying "Howard's Cafe".
I think it is Wickenburg, AZ. In the era, SFe TRAILS should have been a serving carrier. Many of the folders
would list town names, and added info of where stop made. Might be the case here.
Should you have some old TWYS folders, how is the point listed?

Okay, I've dug down and came up with an April, 1939 Santa Fe Trailways system timetable. The inside cover only shows details such as address, phone number, and name of manager for "Principle Terminals".
Unfortunately, Wickenburg is not considered as such. Wickenburg is listed in the comprehensive list of stations, indicating the table numbers that the station is served on, and the fact that it is an agency station. Also, on the schedules, it is shown as a Rest Stop
Sorry that there is no further details..... |

Many Thanks! I can buy into the idea that "Howard's Cafe" could have also served as a Rest Stop.
Wish I could figure how to prove it! Haven't heard back from the C of C!
In the era, Wickenburg site of a celebrated number of "Dude Ranch" spots. The point should have
been busy, too, with riders off/ on the SANTA FE trains coming through.
BTW. Check current E-Bay items for PICKWICK! There's some goodies in there! I'm reluctant to pay
$60.00 for a 1927 T/T, which would make the point about services North/ South over USH-101 in
CA - OR - WA. (On the point, see the "Marin County" discussion in another thread here.)

$60.00!? that's awful steep. I didn't see it on ebay, but I did see a 1936 Pacific Greyhound California - Texas timetable listed as get-it-now for $17.99. It may have the info you are looking for.....You can ask the seller before purchasing. |
