All:
Just came across this rare photo from 1948, which, sad to say, had virtually nothing to go by in its brief caption.
Look closely on the left, and you can make out a PSNJ TDH coach.
Now.....where was this taken?
Note on the semi-tractor cab door, the operating company is based in Detroit.
If this photo was taken in Michigan, then this coach would be ready for delivery to PS.
Or, possibly, this truck was making a boat delivery to a NJ company, and photo was snapped somewhere in the Garden State?
In any event, it's an interesting vintage photo.....

NYO -
Get back into HANK'S, and estimate where other photos sited, presented in Robert Callahan Collection.
Without doing the homework on it it, I'll intuit odds favor a local NEW JERSEY site.
Don't rely on Cab Door markings of Interstate trucks! Suppose the truck power unit identified as Lynden
Transport of Seattle, or Sammons Trucking of Missoula? No reason to think the photo in Yakima, WA?

Vern......
Exactly!
That was why I also mentioned that photo might just have been taken in NJ!
The "rural, side-of-the-road" shot reminded me of a similiar old b/w photo, seen in "OLD LOOK BUSES", by Luke and Metler, showing a brand spankin' new "D-900", (roller curtains still not installed, poles hooked down) parked alongside a road in an obviously rural/semi-rural area.
The lack of roller curtains led me to believe that this weas a "delivery shot".
No location given for this photo, either.
I DID, of course, already know that one cannot go by the "home base" emblazoned on the sides of truck, but, seeing "DETROIT" on the cab door, made think that the photo could have been taken in Michigan, but, of course, as you commented upon, it could just as easily have been taken in NJ.
Too bad we cannot see any readings displayed on the roller curtains!

The boats on the truck are were manufactured near Holland Mi so a Michigan based haul away wouldn't be unusual (and those boats were considered the the top of the line in that era, so suspect they would go most everywhere). |
