Does Suffolk Transit run their Orion V's on any particular routes these days?

Suffolk Bus Corp is the only company with any Orion V's left i believe. Though only about a dozen or so. Only two are used everyday. 9939 is on the S68 during the morning, and 9935 is run on the 7D/E starting at 3:15pm. The rest stay in the Yards (Bay Shore/Ronkonkoma) unless needed.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to head out that way if I get a chance to busfan ST this year.

What about ST's Gillig Phantoms? Do they tend to run more during rush hours or can you find them all day?

The 50xx Gilligs are used on most routes, but not so much by Suffolk Bus Corp or at least not out of their Ronkonkoma Yard.

CBS uses Gilligs on the S60, and S56, S76, and all but one run of the S58.

Suffolk Bus Corp uses 5016 sometimes for the afternoon S68. They may use two 50xx's on the rush hour S61 in the afternoon, but sometimes its just one was they use 1068 most days. Otherwise the 50xx's are just spares.

Inter County uses them on the S29, S25, and S35 i believe. The rest are spares there.

I believe EBT doesn't follow a set assignment as they only have two 35ft Orion VII's that they can use on the 1A, 1B, S20 and S31.

I have no clue what Sunrise does with their 5091-5096.

And HJ uses 5042 as a follow up bus for the 10B, or so i've heard. So 5041 is the back up for the S90.

Sunrise Coaches uses their Gilligs ALL DAY LONG! Gilligs #9612 and #9614 are the extra buses during the rush hours.

I have not seen Gillig #5041 on the S90 in months. Orion #1064 has been on the S90 seen I see that bus deadhead back to the garage.

Appearntly, ALL Orions and Gilligs except for the 9600s...those are rush hour buses. ALL Orions including #1065 are used.

So 13 buses are needed on the S92.

As far as I know, yes EXCEPT for Gillig #2001. BUT I could be wrong but I do seen them operating everyday. That line carries.

So then possible 14 buses.

I've never seen 2001, i had seen one of its sister buses from CBS back in 2003 doing the S110. (it was the first time i had ever seen a transit bus on the LIE)

I would be surprised if Sunrise didn't use 2001, since it was to replace 9609.
