Mr. "L":
Thought you might be interested in this:
On page 30 of this magazine, there is a large photo (late 30's/early 40's) of a dapper fellow named "Gus Schnieder", proudly sitting behind the wheel of his bus. (you can make it his change maker and Johnson fare box, on the right).
According to photo caption:
".......he (Mr. Schneider) drove a bus on Lexington Avenue in New York and Harlem River Drive. My mother and I would wait for his bus on the Queen Side of the Triboro Bridge, and I sat on the seat behind him to ride along with him on his route. He retired after 40 years and never had an accident."
This old photo is a beautiful and nostalgic tribute to the proud, dapper drivers of long ago.
Just thought you might be interested......

Also, in this photo, the badge of the driver's cap vaguely resembles "wings" of some sort.
Badge # is VERY hard to decipher, BUT, it looks as though it MIGHT read "638". |

Mr. "L":
I would have scanned that page gladly, but, it's kind of hard to do, without a scanner!
If it is not possible for you to obtain a copy of this issue, it would be no problem at all to make a Xerox copy of the page, and mail it to you.
Just let me know......
