Stretched limousines that proliferate the landscape today were truly rare birds in the 1940's but there were a handful of specialists including Armbruster and Stageway that produced three, four and five door versions principally as 'Airporters' and, in some instances, cast transporters for movie studios.
Pictured below is a 1947 stretched Cadillac Model Fleetwood '75' originally built as one of a number for Metro Goldwyn Meyer Studios in Culver City, California.
This car is shown in a scene from an episode of the Andy Griffith Show in which a musical troupe visits Mayberry - an actual clip of the segment can be seen at;

Notice that while there is only a driver's door on the road side, the passengers have access to three doors on the curb side.
Another movie company 47 Cadillac stretch is also shown after turning up in the wrong hands!
