But I want to get the story straight if I don't have it yet. Is the Xcelsiors going to cover the retirement of the Classics until the LFSA Hybrids come in? If not, are the Novas, well the strongest of the bunch, are going to make it to Hartford to fill in until the LFSAs come in for us? Or is Hartford going to stay as is until The LFSAs come in? Also, will New Haven keep a few Classics for expansion purposes? |
The 14 Xcelsiors (XDE40) are all slated for New Haven. Since they are deadlining Classics with major mechanical problems, I suspect that the Xcelsiors will be quickly placed in service once they arrive. As for the Classics still in Hartford, how are they being used right now? Are they primarily for rush hour service? In New Haven, many of the Classics, as well as some of the D40HF's, are run all day, 5 to 6 days a week. With more wear and tear on them, they will probably either be retired or placed in reserve. As the changes under the operational service procurement go into effect on December 13th, I wouldn't be surprised if Hartford ended up with a few more coaches, and some of their transits moved to New Haven, but that's just speculation on my part. |
This could be true last week i saw two buses living the garage did not get the number on the first one the second one however was 801 and the info number on the back was not the usual 860-525-9181 it was a 203 number instead so i think this bus is going down to New Haven
also one of the mechaninc was saying to the guy at the both were we pull into the garage that the hybrid buses 301-302 are going back to Stamford |
Wowzees. 802 might be the other one. I just rode both during the past month. Well, which commuter express routes we picked up. I'm only guessing highway bound routes since IT'S impossible financial wise to run either the Winsted or Torrington route. |

Wow, well even after they retired, I'm pretty sure I'll see them as relief buses at the Buckland Mall. |

Are they at James Street for storage or are they being put into service out of Hamden?
BTW, the first XDE40 is due to arrive in Hartford Monday or Tuesday.

It is for New Haven. All buses are delivered to Hartford, when they have acceptance inspection performed, and the paperwork is processed at the DOT, who then installs the state inventory tags and license plates on the vehicles. The buses are then released to the division to which they have been assigned.
The first XD35 (for Waterbury) is scheduled to arrive in Hartford around Christmas.
