I have 1976 GMC bus (Model T6H4523N)

Is it possible to convert manual steering to power steering on this bus?

What would it take? How much?
Possible to do on my own?
Which parts/technology I should look for?

Well not even true power steering, but more like mechanical helper system. Something that will simply amplify my effort. Like gear system, etc...

Of course I would prefer the cheapest method.

Thank you in advance.

Alex

Below is just an old thread related to my bus, but not connected really to this question:

Alex,

At the very least you would need a engine driven pump and it's very probable that your T6H has the mountings for the Saginaw that was generally used.

Then I think you'd need some hydraulic hoses and I believe that would be two at about 35 feet each.

I don't know weather the gear box would have to be changed but basically it's not a lot of parts and I think it could be done pretty cheaply looking through used parts departments.

Hope I helped.

Regards,
