According to someone on Subchat there is one Orion VII at Inter County Motor Coach. The bus was numbered 1001 and had Inter County's name written next to the front door. The bus is said to be 40 feet, though i'm not 100% sure about that. No word about the other 14 40 foot Orion VII'S or the 50 35 foot or 16 30 foot Orion VII's. |

Interesting, if true, that the bus is still carrying the ICMC name. Last week there was an ad in Newsday for a casino run and it said service provided by Ground America Transport, formerly Intercounty, with the 516-661-9200 telephone #.
Wonder if it will be assigned to the S-54 which is a lengthy route. |

yep, it said Inter County Motor Coach in black letters right by the door.
I don't know, in the pic the person who showed it had the S33 sign on. The sign for the S33 looked like this Hauppauge
Suffolk College
The one thing i didn't understand was that in one pic the route number was in red and in the next it wasn't. The destination sign was the same in both pics. |

I wonder if ICMC has split into two companies for legal purposes. ICMC will run transits and Ground Transport America do the OTR work. |

unless they are waiting for the contract to run out with the county before they use the other name.
I mean i believe CBS Lines changed their name from Coarm Bus Service in 1995, right around the time i believe the county renewed the contract. (though i could be wrong with the last one) |

Waiting for the county contract to run out and not bid on the new one is a possibility or perhaps they took in a partner in the charter business and in
effect "spun off" this segment of the business into a seperate corporation.
Personally I prefer the ICMC name on an OTR coach.
As far as the name change for CBS Lines, I think the original Coram Bus Service went bankrupt and CBS Lines was formed to take over the remains.
I also remember seeing a version of the movie "Author, Author with Al Pacino and Diane Cannon. Near the end of the movie they run to the newsstand in Times Square to read the reviews of the play he had written.
As they are looking in the NY Times a Coram Bus Service MCI-9 moves eastbound in the background.
The last times I've seen this movie on TV there is an alternate ending shot with no bus at the same spot. Must have been a different take. |

I know Coarm Bus Service had money problems, as my Grandma told me of times when my Grandpa and other drivers, mechanics had to race to where ever they had their checks cashed as soon as they got their checks otherwise they risked not getting paid if they waited any longer. (but you'd figure they wouldn't have much trouble since they only had one school contract and ran only a few transit lines)
Coarm Bus Service was also sued over tax money another bus company felt they were owed because they had reached an agreement to lease school buses to Coarm but Coarm backed out after the other company brought the buses.
I found Insurance records online a while back For CBS Lines Inc, they went back to 1995. in one record for 1995 it mention that the name had (at that time) had been changed to CBS Lines Inc. The only conclusion i had came up was that Coarm Bus Service had been before that entry had been made, though ur right the name could have been changed by new owners who took over the tattered remains of Coarm Bus Service.
Though i believe the name Coarm Bus Service was used into 1989 as my Grandpa's death certificate (he died almost a month after i was born) listed them as his employer at the time. And because my Grandmother said at least two transit drivers who drove for CBS Lines, at the time, worked with my Grandpa and since one was in about his late 30's or early 40's i figured they had to work together in the mid to late 80's.
Your right, Inter County could have taken on a partner and made both companies independent of each other. |

A friend of mine just told me that on Thursday while passing Suffolk Transportation's Bay Shore Yard (The one they run the S40, S41, S42, S45, S47, 3A,B,C, D from) on the LIRR, he noticed one Orion VII. He didn't say if he noticed but said he thought it could be 35 feet but he wasn't that sure. |

I drove past the Orion plant in Oriskany on Saturday and spotted Suffolk Transit 1002, 1003 and 1005, plus several others too far in to see the numbers. |

So the 40 foot buses seem to be numbered 1001 to 1015, since there are supose to be 15 of them, just like i thought.
I wonder then in the Orion VII my friend saw was a 35 foot bus, like he thought it was. |
