There's a new little bus in town! (although I don't know the make or model).

Pictured below in several poses is fleet number 3114 liveried in Los Angeles County MTA Local dress and standing at layover at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood.

# 3114 is signed for line 218 and runs regularly scheduled service between Cedars Sinai and Studio City in the Valley via Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

These brand new buses are a far cry from the Econoline framed junk boxes that they replaced and must be a very welcomed sight for their passengers.

These are Made by NABI,and are Replacing the Tamale Wagon 12500s and are also supposed to phase out the 9900 series Thomas` and whatever other "wagons" they have.

They are operated out of the contractor (Think Veolia has it now) and they are supposed to get about 50 of these.

They still have a few of "our" 3000s (3014-3019) and also have a couple buses in the 9980 series (One is a Gillig Phantom,the other 3 are 30 foot New Flyers),and are still running the 9950-99?? Chicken Bus Thomases.

Hope this Helps

Rt4957,

Good info - thanks!

It's about time that they had buses that look like buses doing the contracting work although the little 'Dash' jobs (pictured below) that I think are owned by 'MV' don't look too badly.

As a New Yorker (at heart) there is something that puzzles me with these 'contractors';

I see that they are able to run 'Exempt' plates on what are essentially privately owned vehicles.

In New York, the only vehicles that can carry equivalent tags marked as 'Official' are those that are owned by political subdivisions.

But, then again, where talking about California (the Wild Wild West) where new vehicles drive out of showrooms onto public highways with no plates at all (for up to six months) - and if you happen to get side swiped by one of them, there's no way to identify them as they flee the scene!

Enough soap box!

BTW; welcome to BusTalk - we look forward to your valued input.
