I haven't read anything regarding how the impending MTA budget cuts are going to specifically impact S.I. (and the other broroughs) express bus routes.

My guess is that that the Hylan Blvd routes (X1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) will see reductions reflecting the reduced ridership in the current poor economy. But nothing offcial yet.
