Thanks for your helpful (as always) answer! (Someday I'll need to figure out why some California operators air conditioning!)

Thanks for your submission and inquiry.

Can't say I've ever seen an old look transit of this vintage without Thermo-Matic ventilation. My judgment is that this is a TDH-4512 (based on the half-shell vent over the side-rear window), althoug ...

Here's a new one for me: a GM old look New Jersey Public Service trolleybus, fleet #D900. The photo is currently up for auction twice on eBay by seller njrtsr as #181137901941 and 181137902183.

Thanks, frankie!

What I know now that I didn't know before:

1. Being made in 1961, this bus does, in fact, predate the freshly designed TC-25.
2. It did use older-style, Twin Coach/Fageoliner-t ...

Mr. L,
Many thanks for correcting my Twin Coach-Flxible timeline with more precise/accurate information. (And thanks for staying awake in the wee hours of the morning to respond to my post!)

Here's a surprise (to me):

My memory of bus history is that Flxible, which bought Twin Coach in 1955, used both names on its transit buses until 1963, when it finally dropped the Twin Coach name.

Thanks, Mr. L, for so much fascinating and helpful information! Sounds like (without the chance to stand directly under the windshield) 4509's and 4512's aren't as easy to distinguish as I thought.

I suspect this LANTA old look is a TDH-4512 because of the round turn signals (4509's usually had arrows), but I can't be sure, since the telltale air intake over the side rear window is missing. Aft ...

I can't tell you how many times I've run down a Chicago street to catch a bus (from behind) that was already stopped to pick up passengers, hoping to make it inside before the driver closed the doors. ...

I don't have to tell you how many drivers lounged on those seats at layovers in dark and desolate spots and what they did - I'll let your imagination take care of that one!

From what I understand, Detroit has received 14 (or 15, depending on the source you read) new Gillig buses (the first of 46), waiting to be put into service since January 30. The Gilligs begin to rol ...
