Also . . . I.I.N.M., the TA didn't take title to the 126th Street depot in Manhattan until 1962 after the MaBSTOA takeover of the Fifth Avenue Coach Lines' NYCO and FACO Divisions, and Surface Transit ...

This would've meant that now-museum bus 3758 ventured into Manhattan via the B-39 route (and yes, vintage pictures exist of that particular bus plying that route); and the 1964 Flxies likewise had tri ...

NYCTA 4022 on MABSTOA route M104. Photograph taken by Joe Caronetti, December 1984.

I noticed in the early '80's - and may've been on some of them, myself - quite a few buses originally built fo ...

I know this'd be for a different thread, but it seems the reasons for the early retirement of the NYCTA Macks would have been the same as when the 1958 Macks MaBSTOA inherited from Surface Transit wer ...

That shuttle did seem to be a forerunner to the express buses that began to spring up starting in the mid-'60's. As to that bus . . . looks like it originated out of 54th Street depot at the time.

It says something that it took a year from the creation of MaBSTOA to renumber old Surface buses - but 11 years from such bus renumberings to renumber certain bus routes in Manhattan, Queens and the B ...

Any of the Flx 4000's (TA buses, B.T.W.) ever see service on their five Manhattan routes? As for 5283, I presume that was a World's Fair service . . .

These are four weeks prior to the 1972 Puerto Rican Day Parade, but on May 7, 1972 there had to have been something going on along Fifth Avenue to have the M1 and M2A rerouted down Lexington Avenue . ...
